Betsson changes board make-up and settles on chairman’s appointment
The board of Betsson AB has proposed the appointment of three new executive directors and the election of Johan Lundberg as company chairman.
Ahead of the firm’s scheduled annual general meeting (AGM) on 10 May – the board of Betsson has nominated Eva de Falck, Louise Nylén and Tristan Sjöberg as new independent directors.
A leading corporate governance advisor, Eva de Falck has served as General Counsel and member of Group Management for Swedbank and currently serves as chair of the risk and audit committees of Skandiabanken.
Louise Nylén is the former Chief Marketing Officer of instant pay systems provider Trustly and multi-brand igaming operator LeoVegas AB.
Betsson’s has renominated Tristan Sjöberg to serve on its board. An expert in corporate financing for gambling ventures, Sjöberg withdrew from governance duties in 2018 to settle a tax dispute with Sweden’s tax authority.
The upcoming AGM will see Betsson settle the leadership of its corporate governance following last summer’s resignation of Patrick Svenska.
Major Shareholders had approved for Johan Lundberg to serve as Chairman following Svenska’s departure. Updating investors, Betsson’s board will nominate Lundberg to serve as corporate chairman in full capacity.
Following the nominations, the board’s make-up will consist of “seven members, of which four, including the Chairman of the Board, are indendent in relation to the company’s management and major owners.”
“The proposal implicates a gender distribution with three of the board’s total of seven members being women.”
