Brazilian industry leadership under spotlight at SBC Summit Rio
SBC Summit Rio’s Leaders Track will connect delegates with key regulatory voices and Brazil’s leading executives, offering direct insight into how the country’s betting framework is being implemented and how businesses can operate confidently within the regulated market.
Taking place across both conference days from 4 to 5 March 2026 at the Riocentro, the Leaders track will examine how Brazil’s regulated betting market is developing in its second year, with sessions focused on policy implementation, market oversight, and long-term commercial stability.
Delegates will hear directly from representatives of the Ministry of Sport, alongside senior industry executives, with discussions covering upcoming changes to GGR taxation and how licensed businesses can prepare for their impact.
Elsewhere on the track, discussions will turn to the strategic development of Brazil’s land-based sector, the role of integrated resorts in driving tourism and regional investment, and the leadership decisions required to operate effectively across Brazil’s federal, state, and municipal regulatory frameworks.
Rasmus Sojmark, CEO and Founder of SBC, said: “Recent tax changes and regulatory adjustments in Brazil are a reminder that regulation is never static. As the market moves into its next phase, leadership is about staying informed, adapting early, and making decisions that balance compliance with long-term growth.”
The track will open with a session bringing together representatives from Brazil’s key regulatory bodies, offering delegates practical insight into how the country’s betting framework is being implemented and helping businesses understand regulatory expectations as the market develops.
The session Building Unicorns: Behind the Scenes of Running and Scaling Betting Giants will feature senior executives from Brazil’s leading brands, offering first-hand insight into how businesses have scaled and sustained growth since the market became regulated. Executives JD Duarte (Chairman, Betcris), Carlos Freitas (Country Manager, Novibet), Sebastian Salazar (Founder, EstelarBet), Dinos Stranomitis (COO, Altenar), and Ruben Tovmasyan (CEO, VBET Brazil) will share practical perspectives on market entry and the leadership decisions that drive long-term success in Brazil.
The Tax Game: Who Plays, Pays panel will examine the impact of Brazil’s tax pressures on operators. Hugo Baumgartner (Chief Business Officer, Esportes Gaming Brasil), Plínio Jorge (President, ANJL), Alessandra Lewit (Chief of Staff, BETMGM; Director, IBJR), Ariel Litvac (Compliance Director, VBET) and Rafael Marchetti Marcondes (Chief Legal Officer, Rei do Pitaco) will analyse how these changes affect Brazil’s betting and gaming landscape, and how operators can adapt their strategies to remain compliant and competitive.
Other key topics on the Leaders Track include the strategic development of Brazil’s land-based and integrated resort sector, with senior figures from IDT-CEMA and InvestRio joining discussions on how gaming, tourism, and regional investment can work together to unlock new revenue streams and position Brazil as a broader entertainment destination. The sessions will also explore what this shift could mean for long-term market diversification, job creation, and Brazil’s international appeal.
The track will also address the wider structural questions shaping Brazil’s regulated market, including how operators and policymakers are navigating the overlap between federal, state, and municipal frameworks, and how leadership priorities are evolving as the market matures. Together, these discussions aim to give delegates a clearer view of where Brazil’s betting and gaming industry is heading, and the decisions that will define its next phase of growth.
The Leaders track forms part of the wider SBC Summit Rio agenda and is one of five dedicated tracks designed to help delegates navigate the Brazilian market. It sits alongside dedicated tracks to Affiliation, Tech Innovation, Payments and Marketing.
