Checkd appoints Michael Scott to lead SEO strategy

Checkd Media has moved to strengthen its senior team, appointing Michael Scott in its newly created position of Head of Organic Media, with a focus on SEO development.

The new hire will work to optimise traffic across the firm’s Footy Accumulators, The Winners Enclosure and Oddschanger websites, in addition to driving conversion. Prior to his new position, Scott was SEO Lead at Manchester Airports Group’s digital arm MAG-O.

For Chekd Group, the appointment represents a further enhancement of its interest in SEO, following the promotion of Ollie Dickinson from Senior SEO Executive to SEO Manager, whilst its Organic Media and Performance Media (Paid) divisions have been split, with Dylan Casey promoted from Manager to Head of the latter.

Commenting on his new role, Scott remarked: “Checkd is an innovative, vibrant company that already has incredible influence across its channels. My aim is to lead a strategy that further increases traffic, to build on the successes already gained and to focus on growth for the future. It is a fantastic time to be making the move and I can’t wait to get going.”

Chekd Group’s increased focus on SEO development comes as the group plans entry into the expanding US sports betting market, whilst maintaining partnerships with tier-one bookmakers such as Betfair, Sky Betting and Gaming and SKB, and developing ‘bespoke builds’ for media companies via its Checkd Development arm.

Checkd Media’s Managing Director, Alex Beecham, added: “Michael showed in his last role his strategic ability within organic search and leadership skills in fronting a team that delivered strong results.

“As a group, we are devoting increased resources to SEO and this appointment is a signal of our intent in this area as we continue to increase our reach among our target demographic of sports fans.”
