Codere moves to implement omni-channel cashless payments
Codere has entered into a partnership with OKTO, as it seeks to incorporate a mobile-first cashless payments offering across its Spanish operations.
The partnership will see the firm’s OKTO Wallet payment app and platform integrated into Codere’s gaming machines throughout Spain, followed by its retail betting outlet holdings.
By cooperating with OKTO on the initiative, Codere aims to allow its users to deposit and withdraw in real-time from any of its gaming and betting touch points across both retail and digital verticals.
Emilio Miranda, Director of Operations at Codere Spain, remarked: “For Codere, technology is always an enabler for growth. As we are now competing in an increasingly digitalised environment, our partnership with OKTO is well-timed, enabling us to step into the digital, robust cashless era, expanding our offering.
The arrangement will also include a safer gambling element, with ‘various responsible gaming tools’ integrated into OKTO’s app. Additionally, the firm’s Country Manager for Spain, Nacho Frade, argues that the reduction in cash usage will also minimise Codere’s risk of fraud and theft.
By linking with Codere, OKTO has bolstered its network of betting and gaming partners, a portfolio which currently includes Parimatch – in a Cyprus oriented agreement – and Kaizen Gaming, with the e-cash firm supplying both the Betano and Stoixman brands.
Frade commented: “Codere is a premier player in the gaming entertainment space with over four decades of experience, recognised as an industry ‘trendsetter’. Our partnership with the organisation is a testament to the status of the OKTO brand and the effectiveness of the award-winning technology that lies behind it.”
“OKTO, which is leading the cashless revolution and driving the digital transformation across European gaming, leisure and entertainment sectors, meets Codere users’ demand for a smooth, seamless, digitalised journey.”
