Entain board recruits Unilever strategist Rahul Welde as NED

The board of Entain Plc has confirmed the appointment of Rahul Welde as an Independent Non-Executive Director (NED) of the FTSE100 global gambling group.

Welde is the current Executive Vice President of Global Digital Transformation for Unilever plc, which is recognised as the FTSE’s biggest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company and the overall index’s fourth most valuable company.

Entain branded their new NED as the mastermind in executing mass-market digital strategies, that have helped Unilever establish new leading brands across multiple marketplaces.

Welde joins Entain, as the company has refreshed its European and North American brand portfolio adding the new M&A assets of BetCity.nl for the Netherlands KOA Regime, in addition to Mohawk-sanctioned online sportsbook Sports Interaction for Canada’s newly liberalised market.

Further to his NED appointment, Welde has chosen to serve on Entain’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Committee.

“On behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome Rahul to Entain. Rahul brings with him exceptional knowledge of customer experience excellence, e-commerce and digital transformation,” said Barry Gibson, Chairman of Entain Plc.

“I am confident that his skills and expertise will further enhance the Board’s ability to support and oversee the delivery of our strategy.”
