Genius Sports adjusts FY guidance to reflect Q3 gains
Whilst Genius Sports finished on a strong footing in Q3, it did not go without some financial drawbacks to deal with by the end of the year.
Total group revenue landed at $166.3m for the three months ending September, which was 38% over the $121m gained for the same period last year.
Of that total, Betting Technology, Content & Services constituted the largest share, with total revenue of $110m, up 28.5% from the $85m in Q3 2024.
Whilst second in revenue for a total of $42m, Media Technology, Content, & Services grew the most, with 89% more over last year’s Q3 results ($22m).
Sports Technology & Services came in last at $14m, but still more than the $12m in Q3 2024 (up 16.4%).
In summary, Genius’ Media was the predominant driver of the total $166.3m revenue with its 89% growth, mainly contributed to “higher programmatic advertising services”.
Group Adjusted EBITDA came in at $34m, up 32.3% YoY from the $27m in Q3 2024.
Long-term prospects
There was however a noticeable drop in the data technology provider’s net income. In Q3 2024, Genius recorded $13m in net income – this was transformed into a $29m net loss for the three months ending September 2025.
That’s not to raise any alarm bells, however, as the company explained part of that was due to $7.5m loss from foreign currency exchanges, as well as a multitude of data rights agreements and non-recurring litigation costs.
The most recent of these major agreements was the acquisition of sports fan data distributor Sports Innovation Lab, expanding Genius’ media division and strengthening its position in data-led fan engagement space.
Another major milestone was the expansion of its data product BetVision to global basketball competitions.
Commemorating the development with an exclusive interview for SBC News, Matt Stephenson, Global Partnerships Director at Genius Sports, commented: “BetVision’s functionality allows bettors to watch live streams and place these bets inside the same experience.
“They can browse relevant player stats, track ongoing bets, and even tap-on individual athletes to display the latest props markets…it’s designed to boost in-play entertainment in ways that customers want.”
Additionally, Genius Sports also managed to secure the exclusive data rights for Italy’s flagship Serie A football league until the end of the 2028/29 season – with that exclusivity encompassing live data and video distribution rights for Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana as well.
Given the active quarter, Genius Sports has raised its full-year Group Revenue and Adjusted EBITDA guidance to $655m and $136m respectively, coupled with a projected positive annual cash flow by the end of this year.
