Oddin.gg: Good strategy needed to capitalise on esports betting growth

Esports betting provider Oddin.gg has observed that major competition titles are still enjoying double-digit growth in betting volumes.

With the second edition of its annual Esports Betting Review report, the company analysed five of the amount of bets made on five of the biggest titles in professional video game competitions – Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), Dota 2, League of Legends (LoL), VALORANT, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB).

The findings revealed that all five recorded between 18% and 62% YoY betting volume growth, but with the important caveat of distinct behavioural patterns affected by both vertical and individual titles – with Oddin.gg recognising strategic opportunities for sportsbooks if they don’t treat esports as a single vertical.

Some of the key recommendations to capitalise on the growth outlined in the report include the prioritisation of player-focused markets for CS2 tournaments, expanding combination markets for Dota 2, and boosting in-play coverage for LoL – which saw a 166% YoY increase in the average stake during the 2025 Worlds tournament.

One highlight of the report was the coverage of MLBB, which was included for the first time. Oddin.gg found that the title went through a 62% YoY growth in bet count and a 41% YoY increase in betting volume growth.

With MLBB being a mobile esports title, the report notes that the commercial relevance of the vertical is growing, especially in regions that do not rely solely on international tentpole events.

In addition, it was also highlighted that betting performance was impacted by calendar and format changes, which operators can take advantage of as they look to bring in more handle annually.

For example, LoL grew 46% in volume and 32% in bet count because of the addition of a new international event and the introduction of various innovations to the formats, Oddin.gg noted.

Marek Suchar, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Oddin.gg, said: “Billions of bets flow through the Oddin.gg network annually, giving us a read on esports betting that’s hard to get anywhere else. What we saw in 2025 is that esports stopped behaving like a single vertical.

“The growth rates might look similar across titles, but what drives that growth is completely different. If operators continue to treat esports as one category, they’ll miss where the real leverage is. The next stage of growth comes from understanding the differences and building around them.”
