Payment Expert Summit: PIX dominance and Brazil’s rising compliance demands

Payment Expert Summit returns to SBC Summit Rio at a pivotal moment for Brazil’s payments ecosystem. As PIX cements its dominance and regulators tighten AML, KYC, and onboarding requirements, the summit will give payment and compliance professionals a dedicated platform to help them refine their payment infrastructures.

Taking place from 3-5 March at the Riocentro, the dedicated summit will feature its own show floor area alongside a focused educational programme designed to equip operators, PSPs, banks, fintechs, KYC and AML specialists, and compliance leaders with the insights and tools needed to strengthen their payment operations.

Discussing the summit, Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, said: “After the launch of last year’s Payment Expert Summit, we’re seeing Brazil’s payment landscape evolve quickly. In its first year, the focus was on getting regulation right. Now, operators are looking for practical guidance on how to adapt, strengthen their systems, and keep pace with the market’s growth.

“With payment rules evolving and PIX now dominating how Brazilians transact, this summit gives operators and payment and compliance professionals across the entire ecosystem a clear space to connect and discuss how these changes affect their payment offering.”

Bringing together Brazil’s top payment, compliance, and fraud prevention suppliers, the Payment Expert Summit show floor gives operators direct access to the latest technologies powering faster payouts, tighter verification, and frictionless onboarding.

The hands-on environment allows operators to compare solutions, strengthen their payment stacks, and refine player flows. Leading exhibitors include Belvo, EfiBank, Fiserv, Legitimuz, OneKey Payments, Paag, SEON, Sumsub, PayRetailers, Trio Payments, and Unico, among others.

To support stronger connections, the show floor also includes dedicated networking zones, lounge areas, and access to the Food Festival. These spaces give operators and payment professionals a natural setting to meet partners and build relationships that last beyond the event.

On the educational front, the Payment Expert Summit will deliver a dedicated educational conference programme designed to help delegates navigate Brazil’s most urgent payment and compliance challenges. Sessions will explore how operators can integrate PIX smoothly, meet stricter AML and KYC requirements, strengthen fraud detection, streamline onboarding, and build payment stacks that balance regulatory compliance with a frictionless user experience in a newly regulated market.

The track will open with a high-level discussion led by Brazil’s Financial Intelligence Unit (COAF), featuring Ricardo Saadi, Director of Investigation and Combating Organised Crime at the Brazilian Federal Police and President of COAF. Saadi will provide insight into COAF’s role and outline the requirements operators and payment providers must meet for AML and financial intelligence compliance under Brazil’s regulated framework.

The panel PIX in Focus: A Guide to Compliance and UX will explore how operators can implement PIX into their platform seamlessly and compliantly. Experts Thomas Carvalhaes (CEO and Founder, TC Assessoria & Consultoria & ABRAJOGO) and Roberta Guedes (Diretora de Compliance Financeiro, iBetta Bet Compliance LTDA) will outline the operational, compliance and UX considerations needed to build fast and secure payment journeys for players.

The panel Market Entry Playbook: Building Local Partnerships & Alliances will examine how new market entrants can partner with local firms to build frictionless payment stacks that balance speed with compliance. Speakers Nataly Shpak (CFO, 13Aff), Daniel Eskinazi (Managing Director, Rivalo), William Scott (Chairman, Meridianbet) will discuss the partnerships and compliance foundations new entrants need, giving operators practical guidance on building secure and locally aligned payment operations in Brazil.

The session Cracking Down on Money Laundering will offer the latest strategies in combating fraudulent financial transactions. Karen Cardieri (Legal Lead, VBET Brazil), Erik Domingues (CFO, Stake Brazil) and Paulo Gerber (COO, Gamersbank) will outline what Brazil’s strengthened AML and KYC standards mean in practice, offering guidance on onboarding, monitoring, and implementing robust fraud prevention frameworks.

Finally, the panel Behind the Firewall: Where Open Banking Meets Protection will explore how operators can implement open banking in their stack to ensure faster payments and enhanced fraud and KYC protection. Experts William Bonalume (COO, Open Gaming), Carolina Franchini (Open Finance, Finance Expert,  Financial Institutions Manager, KPMG), and Matt Sahakian (Consultant, Zeroum) will unpack how open banking can strengthen verification, reduce friction in the payment journey, and support operators in meeting Brazil’s security and privacy expectations.

The Payment Expert Summit conference track forms part of the wider SBC Summit Rio agenda and is one of five dedicated tracks designed to help delegates navigate the Brazilian market. It sits alongside dedicated tracks to Leadership, Affiliation, Tech Innovation, and Marketing.
