Betway becomes first betting partner of Springboks Rugby
Betway has signed a ground-breaking agreement with South African Rugby (SA Rugby) to become an ‘associate partner’ of the Springboks national team.
Securing a three-year partnership, Betway has become the first betting operator to partner with SA Rugby – an agreement that will see its brand promoted on the matchday shorts of the Springboks from September onwards.
SA Rugby Chief Executive, Jurie Roux, disclosed that Betway had been chosen as an associate partner following a careful assessment of the bookmaker’s previous work with its partner sporting organisations.
“This new partnership will enable us to work together in bringing our passionate fans even closer to the game,” said Roux.
“We are excited to be partnering with Betway as this will stretch beyond the four white lines of a rugby field – Betway have some exciting new initiatives that will be announced in due course as part of the new partnership, and we are excited to see what the future holds.”
Betway has pledged to support the grassroots programmes and civic duties associated with partnering South African sports’ most popular national team.
The partnership sees Betway net a further South African landmark agreement, as last year the operator became the principal sponsor of Cricket South Africa’s test, one-day international and T-20 sides.
“The Springboks are undoubtedly South Africa’s most successful national sports team, with their success deeply rooted in the rich history and culture of this country,” said Betway SA Marketing Manager David Rachidi.
“As a globally-acclaimed brand that has found a home in South Africa, such a partnership signifies our commitment to playing a leading role in growing the game of rugby across the board.
“Over the years, the team has defied the high odds that were stacked against them, so we look forward to partnering with them as they continue their quest to remain the world’s best rugby team.”
