Intralot-Bally’s ties sealed as Robeson Reeves ascends to CEO role

Intralot SA has confirmed the appointment of Robeson Reeves as its CEO, who takes the immediate reins of the Athens-listed gambling technology group and its agreed merger with Bally’s Interactive.

Reeves’ appointment to the leadership position has been in the pipeline ever since Intarlot secured terms to acquire Bally’s Interactive earlier this year, with Reeves having been the President of the latter since 2021.

Prior to his time with Bally’s, Reeves was an executive at Gamesys Group for nearly two decades. After Bally’s Corporation acquired Gamesys in 2021 he was named President of Bally’s Interactive and subsequently became CEO of Bally’s Corporation in 2023.

His ascent to CEO of Intralot was set in motion with, as mentioned above, by the acquisition of Bally’s Interactive – the international B2B arm of NYSE casino and entertainment group Bally’s Corporation.

Deal terms see Bally’s become a major stakeholder in a new Intralot, taking a 58% majority stake in the group while Reeves steps up to become CEO, creating very strong business ties between the duo. As well as the stake, Intralot also paid Bally’s €1.53bn in cash and €1.13bn in Intralot shares.

“We’re adding to Intralot’s business, while others are going through significant change,” he told SBC back in July when the acquisitions were first announced “Things are shifting rapidly in the lottery space—this gives us an edge.”

Though based in Greece and listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, Intralot has been active internationally for many years. The firm maintains deals in the US with the likes of the Hampshire Lottery, in New Zealand, among other areas.

North American growth has been high on the company’s agenda for some time, however, and Reeves’ leadership will likely focus on taking this further, leveraging Bally’s footprint and experience of American gaming.

“I’m watching the disruption in the lottery space very closely,” Reeves reflected on developments in the American lottery space in his interview with SBC. “There’s a shift coming, and we’re positioned to lead.”

Additional changes announced today included the confirmation that Sokratis Kokkalis, Co-Founder and long-term CEO of Intralot, will remain Chairman of its Board of Directors, while Soohyung Kim, Chairman of Bally’s Corporation, will become Vice Chairman of the Intralot board.
