John O’Reilly to deliver keynote for Reputation Matters’ 2021 return
John O’Reilly, Chief Executive of Rank Group Plc, will deliver the keynote speech of the ‘Reputation Matters’ 2021 conference – a dedicated event focused on UK gambling and its evolving relationships with regulatory and political stakeholders.
Hosted on Tuesday 2 November at the Iron Mongers Hall in the City of London – Reputation Matters will focus on ‘UK Gambling’s future at stake’ as leadership faces a critical juncture ahead of the regulatory outcomes of the government’s review of the 2005 Gambling Act.
A 30-year gambling FTSE directorship and governance veteran, O’Reilly will provide his perspective on the effects and adjustments needed for incumbents to navigate UK gambling’s shifting landscape of regulatory change.
“Even as we rebound from the pandemic, public opinion and regulatory challenges haven’t gone away,” said Scott Longley, from event organiser Clear Concise Media.
“I’m excited that John O’Reilly will be presenting the keynote; he brings with him such a wealth of experience and I think the attendees will be very interested in what he has to say.”
The November event will mark the return of the Reputation Matters series on gambling’s corporate event circuit. Established in 2019, Reputation Matters received great acclaim by speakers and delegates as an afternoon conference providing a candid analysis of the UK gambling sector and its challenges on all fronts.
Returning following its 2020 COVID absence, Reputation Matters will pivot around where the sector stands on the pressing issue of the maintenance of its relationship with its regulator, and how it can credibly evidence its sustainability credentials to investors.
“The Gambling Act Review is obviously top of mind right now, so Clear Concise Media is thrilled to be putting together an in-person event that will be addressing some of the most significant areas of debate surrounding the future of the UK gambling sector right now,” Longley explained.
The Reputation Matters conference is supported once again by the principal partners of law firm Wiggin LLP and corporate finance advisory Goodbody.
“It is such an interesting time to bring together an array of prominent industry stakeholders to discuss the issues arising from the Review, particularly considering the stall set out by the Commission in the recent past,” said Steve Ketteley, co-head of the Betting and Gaming Team at Wiggin LLP.
“Goodbody is delighted to be sponsoring Reputation Matters again,” said Piers Coombs, head of the London office at Goodbody. “This is an important thought leadership event for the gambling industry in the UK and Clear Concise Media has arranged for an expert panel from a wide range of stakeholders to address key issues we all need to understand.”
