Oddin.gg: Esports rewards operators who get the infrastructure right
Last month, Oddin.gg taught us that esports growth is undeniable and that, if added into a sportsbook properly, it can double an operator’s revenue. But it is important to note that these huge gains can only be realised if the product being used to power esports betting is of an elite industry standard.
That was the key message in the provider’s latest episode of Expert to Expert – a video podcast series that cuts through the noise in esports betting. Designed for sportsbook decision-makers in product, trading and strategy, it brings senior Oddin.gg experts together to unpack what actually matters.
In episode two, Oddin.gg’s Senior Business Development Manager, Juana Bischoff, was joined by Head of Product, Michael Stencl, who explained that the entire esports betting product has to be built on sound technical infrastructure.
“When you want to build products based on the most advanced technology out there, it’s not about rebuilding something. It’s about starting from the very beginning and aiming for the right frameworks, building your own infrastructure and an end-to-end solution to really make it complete.”
Having that infrastructure, robust and built from the ground up, is essential, particularly in esports, which is a truly round-the-clock product where tournaments happen globally, 24/7.
“It’s about being able to serve the content 24/7, 365 days a year. So all the time, everything needs to be ready, especially for esports. You need to bear in mind that this is global, so there’s always somebody in the world watching or re-watching your streams.”
A core theme of the episode is Oddin.gg’s end-to-end solution with that 24/7/365 ambition in mind. As an esports-only provider, Oddin.gg’s modular full-stack solution encompasses everything an operator needs to introduce esports as a new revenue stream in its sportsbook offering.
Bischoff noted that operators around the world appreciate that Oddin. gg provides a complete 360-degree view of the entire esports proposition.
She said: “They really value that what we provide is an all-inclusive solution. They say, ‘I know you take care of everything. I know you provide the best product. So I can dedicate my time to things that need more attention, because I know that everything is working fine’.”
But even an end-to-end solution can evolve, and that is what Oddin.gg demonstrated at SBC Summit this year with the introduction of BetPeek. This entirely new “betting native” solution allows bettors to switch points of view, follow specific players and rewind or pause all within the original stream for new betting opportunities.
This increased access and perspective have already boosted bettor engagement and earned Oddin.gg plaudits at SBC Summit this year.
Stencl highlighted BetPeek as a powerful example of genuine innovation in esports betting.
He said: “You want the ultimate experience, and not just in esports but across sports. In the NHL, for example, players now have small cameras in their helmets. The same applies in Formula One.
“Now the same applies to esports as well, bringing that experience to viewers who want to see how players react, what they are doing, what they are thinking, and where they are looking at every moment. That brings a unique experience.”
