PickGuru announces UK launch with £1m competition

PickGuru, the new venture of Stats Perform and DAZN co-founder Oliver Slipper, has launched in the UK, promoting its £1 million ‘UltimateGuru game.

The start-up has launched its app on Apple and Google stores, which host UltimateGuru, a multi-sport predictor contest where players forecast the outcome of 12 major sporting events in the 2022 calendar.

UltimateGuru participants must predict the winners of the Six Nations, F1 Drivers Championship, Masters and Open Golf, World Snooker Championship, T20 World Cup, Wimbledon, Europa League, EPL, Champions League, Women’s Euro 2022 and FIFA World Cup.

“Should any player pick the winner of all 12 events in their UltimateGuru entry, they will win the £1m jackpot and be crowned as the UK’s ultimate sports guru,” a PickGuru media statement read.

Further to the £1m jackpot, PickGuru guarantees a competition prize pool of £25,000 for UItimateGuru participants, based on the overall score of their 12 selections during 2022 sports calendar year.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to launch in the UK market and we are arriving with a bang. CEO Olly Roland-Jones commented:  “There’s one million pounds on the table for the UK’s ultimate sports guru, if anyone is able to correctly pick the winner of 2022’s biggest and best sporting events.”

Further to its launch promotion, the PickGuru app features a range of daily and weekly games, with current offerings based on football and golf titles – “where players can test their knowledge to win big money pots in nationwide leagues or create real-money mini-leagues with their friends.”

PickGuru launched its business last Autumn, detailing a mission statement  to become the ‘social gaming disruptor’ that will bridge real money wagering engagements with live sport.

The venture raised £2.6 million in seed funding, led by the stable of seasoned sportstech angel investors that have backed PickGuru to crack live sports gaming conundrum, which to date has proved an expensive graveyard for deep-pocketed start-ups.

“The dream is that we’ll have some live entries with shots at the million-pound jackpot when the football World Cup begins in November,” Roland-Jones stated when launching PickGuru’s first player promotion.

That would provide a blockbusting finale for our players but a nervy wait for our finance team!”
