Sportradar nets Breon Corcoran as board member for new phase of global expansion

Sportradar AG has strengthened its boardroom leadership, welcoming Breon Corcoran as a new executive director of the Global Nasdaq sports, media, wagering and intelligence group.

A renowned figurehead in global gambling and fintech sectors, Corcoran currently serves as CEO of IG Group, the FTSE-250 online trading and investment platform.

Amongst iGaming ranks, Corcoran is best known for his tenure as Chief Executive of Betfair plc (2012–2016), where he played a pivotal role in the landmark £5bn merger with Paddy Power in 2017.

The historic transaction created Paddy Power Betfair plc, the world’s most valuable gambling company at the time and the foundation for today’s Flutter Entertainment.

Beyond gambling, Corcoran’s career has included senior leadership roles across the fintech and digital sectors, serving as CEO of Zepz (formerly WorldRemit Group) and later as Chairman of Auction Technology Group (ATG) — roles that highlight his success in building and scaling global technology businesses.

He joins Sportradar as the company continues to focus on advancing M&A strategy, technology transfer, fintech innovation, and international expansion as the company enters a new phase of transformation and growth.

Corcoran said: “Sportradar has built an impressive business in sports technology, and its potential for continued expansion and innovation is enormous.

“With my background in betting, gaming, and fintech, I am looking forward to working with Jeff, Carsten, and the rest of the Board of Directors to contribute to the company’s journey and help drive long-term value for its stakeholders.”

Sportradar’s push for data dominance

His arrival comes amid a transitional year for Sportradar, marked by the November 2025 acquisition of IMG Arena — fulfilling the company’s largest ever media and data rights transaction

The deal significantly expanded Sportradar’s global footprint to include premium betting and media rights for Wimbledon, the PGA Tour, EuroLeague Basketball, the WTA Tour, Grand Slam tennis tournaments, and Major League Soccer (MLS).

The expanded portfolio now covers over 70 rightsholders, delivering 39,000 official data events and 30,000 live streaming events annually across 14 sports and six continents. The acquisition solidifies Sportradar’s position as a leader in sports data and content distribution.

The company continues to strengthen its investor profile on Nasdaq, having become the first listed sportstech group to exceed €1bn in annual commercial income as of 2024.

Looking ahead to 2026, Sportradar plans to expand its data rights services for sports partners, introduce new media innovations, and bolster affiliate solutions for wagering operators.

“Breon has a wealth of leadership experience across multiple industries, including a deep understanding of the sports technology and data landscape, which will be invaluable to our Board and management. We’re thrilled to have him join our Board,” said Jeffery Yabuki, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Carsten Koerl, Founder and CEO of Sportradar, added: “Breon joins our Board at an exciting time as we continue to innovate in sports technology and expand our global footprint.

“His proven guidance and deep industry expertise will help us drive strategic focus, operational excellence, and long-term value creation.”
