Spotlight Sports strikes Spanish-language content deal with Diario AS
Spotlight Sports Group and sports publisher Diario AS have entered into a new collaborative agreement, with a stated aim of generating ‘high value revenue streams’.
The deal will see the technology, content and media company – which specialises primarily in the sports betting and fantasy sports sectors, including operating the Racing Post – cooperate on management of Diario’s Spanish-language AS.com site, the third ranked global sports publisher.
This will see Spotlight provide Diario’s platform with Spanish language betting content, its bespoke affiliate technology to help create a ‘responsive website’ and AI-based automated content generation.
Additionally, the firm aims to supply its new partner with proprietary data sets, SEO, social media and real-time CRM support services, revenue optimisation management and smart content modules, bet builders and free-to-play products.
Gonzalo Teubal Rodriguez, Chief Digital Officer, AS.com, remarked: “This partnership is a win-win for AS.com. It will deliver a world-class purpose-built platform for millions of sports fans built on the foundations of Spotlight Sports Group’s affiliate technology and empower our users by giving them access to quality content and intuitive betting information and tools.”
“It’s a chance to build a long term partnership with a like-minded global publisher while creating a sustainable revenue model to complement our core publishing business.”
In forming the partnership, the duo aim to combine Spotlight Sports’ understanding of the betting sector and its user engagement technology with AS.com’s readership of ‘millions of unique monthly visitors’.
Exponent Private Equity-owned Spotlight has been pursuing a strategy of working with prominent global media companies, with the goal of providing affiliate turnkey solutions to international publishers.
The company recently moved to enhance its B2B media product portfolio with the launch of its Publisher Solutions suite, featuring betting widgets and affiliate management products, citing research from Nielsen suggesting that 55% of sports fans express an interest in betting.
“We are thrilled to have created this true partnership with AS.com,” said Harry von Behr, Managing Director, Sport & Co-US CEO of Spotlight Sports Group.
“They are a progressive company with an engaged audience and alongside our specialist sports betting content, this innovative platform will keep fans fully informed to make educated bets using Spotlight Sports Group’s data-driven affiliate technology.
“This partnership positions Spotlight Sports Group as a leading provider of sports betting affiliate and engagement technology across the global publishing sector.”
