YGAM receives RSPH accreditation for ‘Mindful Resilience’ programme

The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) has secured formal accreditation for its ‘Mindful Resilience’ initiative from the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH).

Operated in collaboration with Betknowmore UK and Bournemouth University, Mindful Resilience functions as a specialist programme aimed at supporting health professionals with gambling treatment.

The programme equips these health specialists with the ‘knowledge and understanding’ required to identify, support and refeer vulnerable people who are espeicning or at risk of gambling related harm, whilst also promoting signposting to the NHS and National Treatment Network.

An independent health education charity with the goal of improving UK public health standards, the RSPH formally accreidated the Mindful Resilience training – recipients include GPs, nurses, pharmacists, social prescribers and mental health workers – following a ‘robust review process’.

“The RSPH accreditation is significant because it demonstrates the training content and delivery is of an exceptional standard and brings confidence and credibility for our audience,” said Caroline Gallagher, Director of Compliance & Quality Assurance at YGAM.

“Since YGAM’s inception, we have had a relentless focus on independent evaluations and securing external accreditations for our work. We’re incredibly proud of our high standards and strong independence. This recognition further evidences the importance and benefits of collaboration when producing impactful resources.”

YGAM first launched the programme in 2021 in cooperation with its two institutional partners, with training designed with input and information from psychologists, academics, health professionals and individuals with lived experience.

Mindful Resilience has been overseen by Dr Ali Lutte-Elliott since 2020, and last year received parliamentary support when Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, serving Shadow Minister for Mental Health, praised it as a ‘pioneering initiative’.
