Greyhound Racing Victoria selects Sky Racing to boost wagering profile

Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) has signed a partnership with Tabcorp’s Sky Racing, granting the outlet broadcasting rights for the next four years.

The greyhound racing authority for the Australian state of Victoria aims to enhance the profile of the sport, whilst also developing additional content across the Sky Racing network.

Additionally, both Tabcorp and the GRV have outlined a joint objective of further enhancing Victorian greyhound racing’s domestic and international status as a betting product by driving wagering growth.

“We’re thrilled to be appointed as GRV’s vision distribution and broadcast partner,’’ remarked Tabcorp General Manager of Sky Operations, Adam Brownlee.

“Sky and GRV have a longstanding partnership and the new agreement will strengthen our relationship. Most importantly, it’s a win for punters, industry participants and our almost two million viewers every year whether they be in pubs or clubs, at home or watching via our newly refreshed website, the TAB App or on Sky Racing Active.

Brownlee further emphasised that the four-year partnership represents a ‘tremendous opportunity’ to accelerate the growth of Victorian dog racing, whilst also unlocking new ways to broadcast the sport and engage with bettors.

The partners are targeting an upsurge in wagering growth via the digital and retail networks of the TAB sportsbook unit – managed by the newly formed ‘New Tabcorp’ entity, which handles media and betting following Tabcorp’s decision to split its wagering and lotteries divisions into two separate ASX-listed enterprises.

“We have the most integrated customer experience in Australia, and Sky Racing’s coverage is a critical component in growing TAB’s market share,” Brownlee added.

“This partnership will give punters access to more information from the best form analysts and create more interest in punting on greyhound racing as TAB prepares to launch a new App.”

As the domestic, digital and international broadcaster and distributor of GRV content, Tabcorp’s media outlet will increase the air time for the sport and launch ‘dedicated greyhound showcase’ content.

Furthermore, the partners will work on new digital initiatives, with the goal of enabling greater access to Victorian greyhound racing across several digital platforms.

GRV Acting CEO, Stuart Laing, said: “This partnership will provide new opportunities to expand access to vision for fans and punters, bringing them closer to our product and better promote our feature events, star greyhounds and participants.

“We are looking forward to working even more closely with Sky Racing to be more innovative in the way we showcase our sport to punters.”
